Find a Job at Estes

Opportunities from Coast to Coast

When you work at Estes, you’re a part of an experienced, skilled team of drivers, mechanics, dockworkers, dispatchers, customer care representatives, account managers, and many others that powers one of the nation’s most respected and fastest-growing transportation providers. We believe that every individual is essential to our company’s performance as a whole.

Drivers

Estes opened for business back in 1931 with just one driver and a single, used truck. Nearly 90 years later, we’ve grown into the nation’s largest privately-held carrier. With more than 8,000 drivers serving customers through a coast-to-coast network of terminals, Estes is the freight provider of choice for customers looking for unmatched quality, knowledge, and reliability.

We are looking for Combo, Hub, Line-haul, and Pickup and Delivery (P&D) drivers, as well as Van Only and Non-Endorsed drivers.

All Class A Estes drivers must be at least 21 and have:

  • A valid Class A CDL
  • An acceptable driving record
  • Hazmat Endorsement*
  • Doubles/Triples Endorsement*
  • Tanker Endorsement*
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience

*Not required for all positions.

Driver Trainees

If you have a safe driving record — and a longing for the open road — our driver trainee program might be for you! Just a few months of training can prepare you for a new career. After a period of time on the dock learning about freight, you’ll spend 2 weeks in the classroom. Then it’s 10+ weeks with an experienced driver trainer – and on your own – to build on the techniques you’ve learned.

As an Estes driver trainee:

  • You’re paid while attending Estes Driving School.
  • There’s no tuition with a 2-year employment commitment.*
  • You’re reimbursed for mileage and meals.

*Not applicable in all states.

Mechanics

Estes’ certified technicians are responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, troubleshooting, and maintenance of our tractors, trailers, and forklifts. They enjoy excellent hourly pay based on skill level, plus the opportunity to earn an annual shop performance incentive.

Dockworkers

Our skilled dockworkers are responsible for the safe loading and unloading of customers’ freight on and off our trailers, and also moving and staging it — often with forklifts and hand-trucks — on the terminal’s dock. We count on these professionals to help ensure that all shipments reach their final destinations in the same condition as we received it.

Corporate Office Personnel

It takes a talented team to run our coast-to-coast network of more than 200 locations. Our team at Estes’ Corporate Office headquarters in Richmond, VA, includes professionals in a variety of key areas, including sales, human resources, finance, safety, marketing, IT, operations, customer service, and real estate.

Field Office Personnel

Estes’ drivers may be the face of our company on the road, but thousands of other talented Estes employees support them behind the scenes in a wide range of capacities. These administrative, clerical, sales, and terminal management positions are located in one of our 200 terminals across the U.S.

Yard Jockey

Jockeys are responsible for timely movements of tractor trailers throughout the terminal yard, ensuring that equipment is in position for dockworkers and drivers, and maintaining accurate yard inventory. They also keep our teammates safe through regular and meticulous equipment inspections and yard audits.
